Our Senior Companion Circle has long been part of how we care for one another at The United Church. But recently, we’ve found ourselves gently shifting how we think about it.
Rather than focusing on age, we’re focusing on connection.
For some, staying connected to church life becomes more challenging in lasting ways. Health changes, mobility, caregiving responsibilities, or life transitions can make it harder to remain as involved as before. This ministry exists so that no one quietly drifts to the edges when those changes become part of everyday life.
Each person is paired with a Steward, forming a consistent and meaningful connection to the life of the church, through conversation, encouragement, and presence, as well as, social events.
This continues to be a ministry for those who are part of our church family, reflecting our shared desire to care for one another with intention and grace.
More than anything, this is about making sure no one feels forgotten, and that each person knows they are seen, valued, and still very much a part of our church family.
